I had planned to write a column today about the differences between illegal aliens and immigrants, about how much I love and cherish the immigrant roots of both myself and my wife, and about how there is a HUGE difference between those who immigrate to America and become Americans, versus those who enter our nation through criminal and fraudulent means and demand that we change our language and our laws to accommodate them. Yes, it was going to be a grand column about how the fight over protecting our nation's borders once again turns on the differences between Liberals who cry "I've got rights, even where no right exists!" and Conservatives who proudly stand for responsibility, both personal and civic. (Somebody please explain to me again how Bush betrayed his constituency in such a profound way?)
But I changed my mind. Instead, I've decided to point readers of TheWriteJerry to some of the higher profile bloggers who have pieces about this extremely important issue. They will fill you in with news and analysis, while I prepare a post on the recent NFL draft for some time later today or early tomorrow.
However - I do want to point out three ironies concerning today, Monday May 1st, and the proposed Day Without Immigrants protests.
- Notice how they say "immigrants" and not "illegal aliens?" Nice language manipulation. I wonder who their PR guy is.
- May 1st is Labor Day in Mexico.
- May 1st is also May Day, the former Soviet Union's celebration of Communism.
Kind of makes you wonder...
Anyway, enjoy these links. Be edified, entertained, and perhaps provoked to action:

These links are to just one of each author's articles on the subject of illegal aliens. I encourage you to also click through to their home pages to see other columns on this subject, as well as the rest of these fine writers' diverse content.
